The River Shack is a charming little hideaway with modern-rustic beach-house styling, nestled cosily on the bank of the Blind River. It sits a mere stone’s throw away from the Blind River Mouth, with a view of the crashing ocean waves in the near distance. Situated in Dana Bay, Mossel Bay, this self-catering quirky home sleeps eight in four bedrooms.
The spacious balcony boasts unforgettable views of the river, sand banks and beautiful unspoilt beach. Then, for those chilly evenings, the long open-plan living area is punctuated right in the centre by a charming fireplace. The separate braai deck hides a staircase that leads down to your own little grassy riverbank. The central open plan living area has the well equipped kitchen at one end, eight-seater dining table and lounge.
The main bedroom has a spacious and luxurious en suite bathroom, then there’s another double bedroom and two bedrooms with two singles each. The family bathroom’s pride and joy is the family-sized shower with a view of the river!
Moquini Estate is a paradise of colourful fynbos, birdlife and wildlife, and offers many a stroll or hike, if you have the energy. The beach is reached along a scenic boardwalk that starts only a few metres from the door of River Shack. And when it’s time to drag yourself away to stock up on supplies, shops are only a 10-minute drive away. But you’ll really not want to leave once you’ve settled in.
The perfect balance of river, ocean and fragrant fynbos, this is your own private haven of tranquillity. This is a forever getaway, for sure.
